Specialist implant fittings & removals
Our Contraceptive Implant
Getting an Implant Fitting
We will begin by a contraceptive consultation to make sure the implant is appropriate for you. Our Specialists will enquire about your general medical history & sexual health. Any questions or worries you may have can be raised at this point.
If you are happy to go ahead with the procedure, our Specialists will proceed to offer a same-appointment implant fitting. In some cases, we might have to defer the fitting.
Getting an Implant Removal
A simple implant removal is one where the implant can be felt in the arm. If it can, our Specialists will remove the implant during the same appointment.
A complex implant removal is one where the implant cannot be felt in the arm. It may have travelled to a position out-of-reach and will require further precautions. If this is the case, our Specialists will walk you through each step to ensure the implant is removed as quickly & safely as possible. Same day removal cannot be guaranteed in this case.
Who will I see?

Contraceptive Implant FAQs
What is a contraceptive implant?
A contraceptive implant is a small plastic, flexible rod, which is fitted under the skin and lasts up to 3 years. It provides over 99% effectiveness against pregnancy.
How does it work?
The contraceptive implant works in 3 ways:
- It inhibits ovulation
- It thins the endometrium (lining of the uterus)
- It thickens cervical mucus to prevent sperm from entering the uterus
