Medicine is a complicated subject and sometimes these guidelines don’t always hold the answers.

Unlike most private clinics, we have medical consultants here to help you navigate through such problems and get you on the right track in no time.

FAQs about STI Treatments

Can STIs be treated?

Most STIs and sexually related conditions can be treated with antibiotics. There are some infections that cannot technically be treated but can be managed to ensure you live a normal life (e.g. HIV, Syphilis, Herpes, HPV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C).

Can I get treated for an STI without having any tests?

It is highly recommended to be tested before you begin treatment so we can offer a clear diagnosis and the right follow up advice.

Can you provide STI treatment if I tested positive elsewhere?

Yes, we can. We will still have to carry out an STI consultation (£50) in order to understand your diagnosis with the background information, safely administer medications and to provide any necessary after-care.

Will I need to get re-tested?

A Test of Cure (or TOC) is routinely carried out for:

  • Gonorrhoea
  • Trichomonas
  • Mycoplasma

This is partially because of a possible resistance to antibiotics and to prevent further spread of the STI. Your clinician may ask you to also re-test for other STIs if:

  • You are pregnant
  • Your symptoms don’t go away
  • You need proof of treatment success

Where can I get STI treatment from?

You can get these medications from us during your appointment. Alternatively, these medications can also be given at your local NHS sexual health/GUM clinic.

Can I treat my STI at home?

Whilst you can find over-the-counter medications, it is important to consult a healthcare professional before taking them.

This is to ensure that you are taking the appropriate medications and to avoid any future complications.

How much does STI treatment cost?

The cost of the medications are listed above. This is in addition to any tests you may need.

If you have tested elsewhere, we will still have to carry out an STI consultation (£50) in order to understand your diagnosis with the background information, safely administer medications and to provide any necessary after-care.
